Ladish Valves Awarded Cryogenic Valve Business for World-Class LNG Project on Gulf Coast

HOUSTON, Texas, February 23, 2022: LADISH VALVES – A world-class LNG company has chosen Ladish Valves to provide cryogenic ball valves for its liquefied natural gas export facility on the Texas Gulf Coast due to Ladish’s proven history of (i) meeting required specifications, (ii) designing & manufacturing custom engineered cryogenic valves, and (iii) meeting accelerated lead times.
Increased demand for LNG
Natural gas production in the United States has surged by roughly 70 percent from 2010 and the nation became the world’s No. 1 exporter of liquefied natural gas for the first time [IN DECEMBER], as deliveries surged to energy-starved Europe. [1]
American LNG output surpassed leading Qatar in December of 2021 following a rise in exports from the Sabine Pass and Freeport facilities, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The jump in U.S. LNG exports is helping ease the global supply crunch. Europe is facing a winter energy crisis as utilities grapple with seasonally low natural gas inventories. Overseas buyers purchased 13% of U.S. gas production in December, a seven-fold increase from five years earlier when most of the infrastructure required to ship the fuel out of the country didn’t yet exist. Ladish Legacy
Ladish has played a major role in providing cryogenic valves for the high-profile facilities leading the charge on this shift, one of which is set to become the largest LNG export facility in the United States based on million metric tonnes per year. With local manufacturing facilities and strictly monitored domestic and international vendors, Ladish is uniquely positioned to provide valves in a timely, quality controlled manner.
Experience in performing cryogenic testing to desired leakage rates, (more stringent than industry standards) was one of many reasons Ladish was chosen for the project. In addition, Ladish has historically been successful in engineering solutions for both valve and testing requirements. With a strong history of in-house customizations, Ladish is able to successfully test valves per the strict specifications. Previous testimony from an onsite test witness stated that “all companies should model their cryogenic testing after Ladish.”
In addition to custom modifications, specific end-to-end configurations and non-standard cryogenic columns with a particular country of origin (no China or India) are often required. Further, extensive NDE testing is required to demonstrate product quality. Ladish’s capabilities keep all engineering modifications and testing in-house, allowing for the highest degree of precision and quality control.

Over the last 3 years, Ladish cryogenic sales totaled over $20 million in cryogenic gate, globe, check and ball valves.
